A Nokia Stand in London during Nokia week held last month in UK. |
Paul Amsellem, the head of Nokia in France has revealed that Finnish cellphone maker Nokia plans to launch a Tablet that runs on Microsoft's Windows operating system in the summer of 2012.I met him 16 months ago and frankly speaking Paul Amsellem is one of the smartest executives Nokia has in my opinion.Paul Amsellem predicts that in June 2012, we will have a Tablet that runs on Windows 8.
In recent past,Nokia has said using Microsoft Windows 8 for Tablets could be an interesting opportunity for the company but it has not yet unveiled any launch plans and so far no senior executive has confirmed the reports.I did spoke to a friend who works there and he told me that there is such a plan but nothing much to report about. I wonder if this is the new trend by Nokia to follow suit of its competitors and cannot see any possibility that the Tablet would compete with Apple's iPad or Samsung's Galaxy tab.
A Nokia insider told me this evening that the company has not announced any specific plans as it relates to Tablets. Nokia recently launched sleek Microsoft Windows phones which many have concluded is the first step in the ailing cellphone maker's fightback against Apple and Google. To me,only time will tell how successful it will be.
