New Motorola Razr review

This evening, I spent ample time with a telecom analyst who was ecstatic about his newly acquired iconic Motorola Razr that he wanted me to see.He simply calls me a phone addict and those close to me know better. The new phone made a market comeback recently although this time with an Android flavour. Staying true to its past designs, the new model comes encased in a "razor-sharp" housing that measures a mere 7.1mm thin. It is also lightweight, tipping the scales at about 127g.The smartphone has a sculpted glass face, aluminium accents and a 4.3in Super AMOLED Advanced display.
The Camera is superb.

Most notably, the new Razr features a Kevlar fibre which is the same used in bullet-proof vests strengthened back, stainless steel core and laminated construction frame, Corning Gorilla glass screen as well as a splash-guard coating to shield against water splashes. Not banking on its looks alone, the Razr has 1GB of RAM, a 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 processor, Android 2.3.5 operating system and 16GB internal storage which is expandable via a Micro SDHC card slot. The new Razr has a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera and an 8-megapixel main camera with 1080p HD video capture capability.
The new Razr is thin

While admiring the new phone,I realized that the smartphone features the MotoCast app that allows users to stream or download content from a PC straight to the device. In addition to that, the preloaded Smart Actions feature enables users to automate everyday tasks easily and enable better battery life. One of the striking feature that won my heart while I was testing the phone, was the ability where one can turn down the ringer volume when you step into work, change the Bluetooth and GPS settings when you are at home to save on battery, or send a text to someone if you miss his or her call.
The new Razr back

I do think that Motorola plans to launch a slew of optional accessories that will turn the Razr into more than a mere smartphone like transforming it into a mobile cloud computing device, a HD media hub, a navigation device or even a stereo system is a noble idea that will capture the imagination of both teens and mid class consumers. With the Motorola Lapdock 500 Pro, users will get the ability to edit documents and browse the Web with a full Firefox browser all while charging the smartphone. The owner told me that last night Razr HD Dock or HD Station connected well to his HDTV, speakers and other peripherals for large-screen entertainment and also the navigation dock turns the Razr into a full-fledged GPS.I think it's time for me to get this new phone.

On the first of each month (or whenever your quota resets on billing day), clear the packet data counter. For example: Tools -> Log -> Packet data -> Options -> Clear counters

Nokia X2-01 review

After months of waiting,I finally got hold of Nokia X2-01 today through a teenage friend of mine who is obsessed with music and quality photos. The first thing to note is an obvious return to the XpressMusic styling. It feels the phone could've been more compact. The teenage boy has just finished his High school this past year and just like millions of teenagers worldwide, music tops their wish list followed by social networks namely Facebook and Twitter. There is no doubt Nokia X2-01 is a device for social networking and fast communications and QWERTY keypad aimed at those who can't get enough of text messaging and status updates on their Facebook and twitter pages like my teenage friend which is bolstered by Communities app which integrates Facebook into the device where one can see friends' updates directly from the homescreen and easily post your own updates and photos.

The teenager was proud to show me his new acquisition and since the handset is sleek with a solid qwerty and music DNA running on the handset,he could not have asked for more as festive season nears. The Nokia X2-01 is only the second QWERTY messenger feature phone by Nokia after the C3.While testing,it was clear that one can type so fast, so fast you can barely see what your typing. The X-series range of phones are music oriented devices, and with device Nokia truly addressed the demand and love for social networking and heavy texting. The teenager whose first name is Christopher, asked me to send a song by Cabo Snoop called Windeck via Bluetooth and that is when I realized there is one click access to music, the media player, FM radio and the Ovi Music service, for unlimited access to a vast library of tunes.

The screen has decent contrast and commendable sunlight legibility. The phones comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA screen and a VGA camera on the back and measures 119.4 x 59.8 x 14.3mm and weighs 107.5g. It does support memory cards up to 8GB and there's no WiFi and only GPRS and EDGE data, but that's compensated for by the low price. The exposed 3.5mm audio jack and the charger plug are up top. There is no volume rocker and dedicated camera key in this phone with camera resolution being a mess to say the least. This phone offers various connectivity ports with both microSD slot and the microUSB port being covered by a common rubber lid on the phone's left side but unfortunately the two apertures are harder to access.
It was slow when i tried to load www.wanarua.com as seen above

The phone has 1020 mAh battery that easily give you more than four to five days of use considering there's nothing much to drain power. In my conclusion, this phone has nothing new to offer apart from the appealing design which makes it feel richer than it's cost.I do not know if it was targeted at teenagers like Christopher but no matter the age group it is targeted on, one can get a crush on the phone especially with its ultra-comfy keyboard.Four-row QWERTY keypad has well defined and reasonably sized keys and nicely convex keys are tactile. The backlighting is impressively sharp and solid and if you're text and social media addict who's looking for a total value for money product the X2-01 is a great buy.
