How it Works

Samsung advert takes aim at iPhone 4S fans

 

 

I have never seen such an advert like that before in the mobile industry.The latest advert by Samsung for its marquee SII shows people in queues around the US at what looks like a launch of a new iPhone. Those attending iPhone launch see other 'trendy' people with the Galaxy SII smartphone and once they realize it is a Samsung, they recoil from the model. The advert contains subtle digs at the performance of the iPhone 4S, launched in America last night.

To the neutrals,the advert is a really great spoof going after iPhone users in funny way but this does not in my own opinion mean tables have been turned in the famous Mac v PC advert. My friend Ville Makinnen told me that his favourite line was the guy who said he can't buy a Samsung because "I am creative" to which his mate replies: "You are a barista! Great. According to him,this is very similar to the way Mac rubbished pc. Another friend Jason Roberts love the bit where the blonde girl goes "meh me meh 4G phone". For me,i find it disgraceful and a lack of creativity.

Windows 8 install cut to 11 clicks

 

 

 

Microsoft has simplified the installation process for Windows 8, cutting it from 60 screens to as few as 11 clicks and company expects installations to be key to Windows 8 uptake, as it is designed to work on all PCs running Vista,XP and Windows 7.I think Microsoft main focus is to improve the rate of successful installations because it wants to make it faster and easier to use.

Microsoft has improved the file transfer system for upgrades to Windows 8. Rather than moving each individual file, it moves entire folders, drastically reducing the number of file operations required.Windows 8 also makes file transfer easier by linking to files in the old system rather than rewriting them, via a "transport" holding folder, to the new OS.This means i can link to the actual data on disk in the transport location without having to physically move the file, which has a significant performance gain.

As an advanced user,I will still be able to run advanced installations and Microsoft has streamlined the basic setup system, taking it from a convoluted 60 screens to one that can be completed in as few as 11 clicks.The streamlined setup kicks off inside the older OS by running the DVD or web download which will automatically preload the 25-digit product key.It scans the PC for compatible programs, and makes a note of which version and language of the OS to install.If you are user,pick from a clean install or one bringing over settings, personal files and applications.Unfortunately,users upgrading from Vista won't be able to bring their apps with them but will be able to keep settings and personal data and those upgrading from XP won't be able to bring apps or settings.
