Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Review

Early this morning, the weather around my place was so bad such that I ended up spending almost three hours in a nearby Samsung shop.I and the owner who goes by the name Regina xxxxxxx spent all the time discussing the new Galaxy Note GT-N700.She gave me a sample and when I saw it,I realized the device is not a small Tablet like i had anticipated but a very large phone, views which were shared by Regina.Immediately,i wanted to find out if the device would fit in my pocket and it was not disappointing as such. The Galaxy Note has a very beautiful 5.3 inches AMOLED touchscreen and is a fully functional phone and comes with a stylus, dubbed the S Pen which I learned from the seller that it was advanced smart pen comfortably tucked in at the bottom right of the device that lets users take notes, doodle and mark-up screenshots and maps.

While comparing it with other Samsung products, this one has a large and bright as well very sharp screen.I was amazed how the display on this device works. The gadget proves to have amazingly good touchscreen sensitivity and it has 1.4Ghz dual-core processor running on Gingerbread and frankly is a very fast response speed. The Note social Hub combines all social networking feeds and e-mail messages into one single app and updates from Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn make up the social network feed and user can even sync with Microsoft Exchange server as well as other web-mail accounts.

The S Planner organizer can be synced with Google Calendar, Microsoft Exchange and Facebook while S Choice has a selection of Samsung apps and one of the best is Zen Brush because it is a drawing app that lets you to paint and write. One of the most remarkable things with the Note was to use the device very much like how I use a regular notepad and the S Pen is indeed a useful tool. While testing,it was easy for me to mark-up webpages and screenshots with the S Pen and S Memo software and there were two ways to make a screen capture. One wa is to depress both the power and home button simultaneously while the other one is to depress the little button on the S Pen while tapping on the screen.

However, while doing latter, screenshot was automatically placed in an editor where I was able to save, mark-up and select a part of the image. This was very fascinating indeed. was also able to import entire screen shot and other selected images to the S Memo app to further add annotations to it and at time simply use the image i selected in my memo. For your information,S Memo comes with eight different backgrounds and I was able to choose from yellow notepad paper, blue lined paper. One of the most interesting thing was that there is a music manuscript background for those who want to compose music which is pretty cool.S Memo also provided me with a wide selection of pen settings ranging from pen, pencil, paintbrush and highlighter in various colors that made my doodling experience more enjoyable.

It is humongous for a smartphone, so for the men,i don't know if it will sit comfortably in our front pockets. For our lovely ladies, they will definitely have no problems carrying it in their handbags as it is thin and lightweight. The Note size and WXGA is 1,280 x 800-pixels,the resolution that makes the device very impressive for viewing photos and videos. The main advantages of having a Super AMOLED screen are a brighter display, less sunlight reflection and reduced power consumption. Also, I did not like was the fact that screen takes up most of the front of the phone, leaving narrow spaces on top and bottom of the device.

There is a physical Home button at the bottom of the device and two touch-sensitive buttons on either side for Back and Options. On top is an earphone grill, followed by the 2-megapxiel front-facing camera. The 8-megapixel camera and flash is at the back, where the speaker is. As the speaker is located at the back, it's best not to put the device flat on the table when listening to music or watching videos. Also, the Note did not impress me with its vibrant display as I was also pleased to learn that it holds its own when it comes to photo and video capturing.

The Note comes with Video Maker and Photo Editor that allow us to make simple edits to our video clips and photos respectively.Without any doubt in my mind, the device is the best travelling companion when i can listen to music while reading my favourite novel or my most adored magazine as it is suitable gadget in catching up on the latest news or browsing my favorite Economist magazine. This is even made easier because Samsung's Readers Hub allows users to easily download online newspapers via PressDisplay,Magazines via Zinio and books via Kobo.

In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy Note is truly an all-in-one device that's lightweight and portable. However,I cannot hold the gigantic smartphone up to the ear to receive a call because at this age and era it is extremely embarrassing.Regina told me this new larger form factor might just become the norm in the near future.Samsung Galaxy Note is simply a large gadget with beautiful display and light in weight with packed features.Unfortunately,I would not dare to hold this huge handset up to my ears as people may think am old fashioned.

I barely spent ample time with the tablet but the Note is able to house a large 2,500mAh lithium-ion battery and this means that despite the size of the screen, battery life is decent for a device of its size.I was told by shop owner that a fully charged battery could last me a day and a half to two days with minimal usage, but I would definitely have to charge it daily in case of heavy usage like gaming or video playback.I'd rather charge it daily because a day without rock videos is like a day without food for a mason.
